Norton Center Salutes: Farmers National Bank & WealthSouth

Greg Caudill and David Simpson

Farmers National Bank has been in the trust business in Danville, Kentucky since 1909.  It has been a strength of the bank for over a century offering a wide array of trust and investment services.  During 2012, it was determined that leveraging this strength was a possibility due to a multitude of changes occurring in the banking world.  Farmers National Bank started conversations with several groups of trust professionals and as a result soon opened offices in Bowling Green and Lexington Kentucky.  It was determined early on that use of the Farmers National Bank name in these markets was not a viable option due to other banks operating by a similar name.  As a result Farmers National Bank initiated a rebranding of its wealth management and trust unit and after much thought chose WealthSouth as its new operating name.  WealthSouth is the wealth management arm of Farmers National Bank and provides families and businesses with financial, trust, and retirement plans to meet the needs of a constantly changing market environment.

Their expertise allows them to offer several different types of trusts including but not limited to Revocable Living Trusts, Testamentary Trusts, Irrevocable Trusts and Charitable Trusts.  They counsel with their client’s attorneys and tax advisors to recommend and design the proper trust to satisfy each client’s wishes and goals.  WealthSouth understands that estate planning can make a real difference in the future welfare of an individual’s spouse, children, and extended family.  WealthSouth meets with their clients in order to fully discover their goals and values and to design a plan that successfully transitions the family legacy from one generation to the next.

They also understand that retirement planning is a dynamic process that requires consistent evaluation of needs and resources with the goal of allowing clients to retain a comfortable lifestyle throughout a very important time in their life.  WealthSouth helps ensure that clients remain in control of their financial situation through the many services offered to assist with this very important endeavor.

WealthSouth has developed a specialized niche for serving as an independent corporate trustee for Employee Stock Ownership Plans.  Their expertise allows them to serve as an independent transaction trustee for purchase transactions and as trustee to evaluate the sale of ESOP owned companies to larger non ESOP companies. They also serve as the ongoing corporate trustee for several companies located throughout the United States. WealthSouth professional staff incorporates all of the necessary components of managing a 401(k) plan to provide the greatest benefit to both the employer and the employees.  While acting as trustee for the plan, they offer complete plan document and design services, provide educational and proactive communications to the plan administrator and participants, oversee the recordkeeping and plan administration, and provide the investment advisory and management services.
